The Hintertuxerhof was in need of a complete refurbishment. For technical reasons relating to the threat of avalanches, it was not possible to extend the existing size of the building. However, by gutting the upper floors and small-scale extensions over the balconies, it has proved possible to replan the available space so that the usable space could be considerably expanded. From an architectural point of view, it was a question of combining and fusing the Alpine traditions with the modern style. The result is not some random eclecticism, but perfectly integrated design.
